The Objective

Denargo Market 3, located in Denver, Colorado, is a mixed-use site that offers both residential and commercial spaces. During its construction, LONG’s Architectural Team was selected to install both composite metal panels and single skin metal panels. These panels are key to achieving a functional aesthetic for the building. Not only would they need to maintain the urban environment and highlight the building’s architectural features, but they’d provide weather-resistant protection as well.

The Challenges

As with all commercial construction projects, there were a variety of challenges we had to contend with along the way.

1. Timing: The louver installation needed to be completed with minimal disruption to the project’s timeline. As just one piece of a larger construction project, the timing of the louver installation needed to work in conjunction, and not interfere, with other construction being performed.
2. Integration and Coordination: Precision was necessary for the louver installation, as they had to be installed on prefabricated walls. This required meticulous coordination and communication with the offsite fabrication company to ensure accurate dimensions and placement.
3. Building Aesthetic: The louver’s performance and efficiency with PTAC systems was important product consideration, but it wasn’t the only factor. The physical design of the louvers also had to be aligned with the building’s aesthetic. This required a mindful, deliberate decision when picking the right louver for the project’s needs.
4. Weather Resistance: The installation had to take account of Denver’s varied climate. We had to choose a product that not only matched the efficiency and aesthetic needs but could resist the harsh temperatures, snow, hail, and sun that Denver experiences through the year without compromising appearance or airflow.

LONG’s Architectural Team managed the full project from start to finish. They coordinated closely with the prefabrication company to ensure accurate installation on the building’s exterior walls. The Ruskin VTAC louvers were successfully placed and then integrated with the PTAC systems, providing necessary ventilation while maintaining the aesthetic integrity of the design. They then provided quality control, inspecting the louvers to ensure they were securely attached and positioned for optimal airflow and weather resistance.
